Car lighter

Hi All,

The cigarette lighter in my car works as when I push it down, it heats up and pops out and it's orange.

However, when I plug my Bluetooth device in, this won't work. It's not the device as I've tried two different ones and also tried them in my DP and Dads cars and they work fine.

Any ideas what the issue could be and how I go about fixing it?

It's a 2006 clio if that makes any difference

If it heats up its working as a lighter not a charger!!

I think it might be the socket part because if I fiddle round with the Bluetooth thing (technical term 😂) it works at certain angles

Are you trying to charge something? Am confused why you're plugging in Bluetooth? ?

Pingu49 · 23/02/2018 11:21

It's a Bluetooth FM transmitter thing. So it connects to my radio, so I can play songs from my phone

Don't you just connect your phone to the radio via Bluetooth? ?

Mine works fine. Maybe whip it into Halfords and get them to look?

Ginmakesitallok · 23/02/2018 11:24

The lighter might charge something, but won't connect anything?

If it works at certain angles then it’s likely that there is some rust/dirt inside the socket. Try cleaning it out or get some fine sandpaper and rub around the inside of the socket

I would connect it to the radio directly via Bluetooth if I could but obviously my radio doesn't have Bluetooth hence the need for the Bluetooth/fm transmitter

Oh never thought of cleaning it like that! Thanks...

I think Halfords or a garage will have to be the way I go haha!
