FIL has offered to give us around £5000 to buy a new car as mine has died. I need it to have a decent sized boot, at least room for 3 car seats but am toying with the idea of a 7 seater and am looking for in the north west if possible!!

you'll not get the boot space with most 7 seaters. believe the fiat multipla. volvo xc90 have boot space and 7 seats when required. zafiras and galaxy have very little, if any boot space when 7 seats in.

We are loving our (new to us) Citroen Xsara Picasso - 5 seats (but all full size with proper seatblets in the back) and a massive boot. Where in the North West? We got ours at Fords of Winsford (Cheshire) and they were good - not pushy salespeople types.

I think would prefer a optional 7 seater if possible.
Am in liverpool

We were in a Multipla taxi in Rome and it's very spacious. You'd get 3 car seats in fine. It's a 6 seater (3 front/3 back).

We have a Zafira ourselves, but there's definitely no boot space with the back seats up.

I'm going to vote for a straight forward 5 seater Vauxhall Vectra. All 3 seats in the back have full seat belts and there is room for 3 car seats. No option of 7 seats but the boots are huge.

ChippyMinton · 30/04/2007 21:33

agree bramblina - or a mondeo estate. If you want a huge boot and 3 car seats across the back. And it's a proper car not a mummybus

Slightly off-topic but our FIL is giving me some money to buy a new car too.

Have no advice re 7 seaters, but three cheers for decent fils.

What you're probably after is a Ford S-max but as they're still quite new, I don't think they'll be in your budget yet.

Nemo2007 · 30/04/2007 22:30

unknownrebelbang..uge cheers indeed

S max would be fab but out of budget. Think I am going to look at zafiras just to have the option of the extra seats. Not too bad as most of the time it is just me and the 3 children in it but need the extra space as a few times have had to turn away DS friends from day out as didnt have room for them.
