Crocs for kids -- do you like them?

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 16:52

That's it really. DD wants a pair and on the one hand I think they look really easy to care for. But on the other they are ugly and look really uncomfortable. Anyone have a pair for their kids? Do they like them? Are their feet covered with blisters?

I've not really had much to do with them but have seen them out, dont really have an opinion of them but can honestly say I wouldnt wear them or buy them for my dd's.

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 16:58

dd has some and pretty much lives in them
wonderful for kids IMO

foxybrown · 29/04/2007 17:04

they are fab for kids, easy to put on clean, great for garden or swimming too.

but agree, wouldn't wear them myself

foxybrown · 29/04/2007 17:04

easy to put on and clean I should say.

Earlybird · 29/04/2007 17:14

I got some for dd. She loves them. Surprisingly, they seem to almost function as an alternate pair of trainers - she runs/jumps etc without hesitation. I wondered if she'd trip alot wearing them, or if they'd rub blisters. But so far, no. She loves them.

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 18:25

Thanks for your responses.

No.

They look far too clumpy.

LilyLoo · 29/04/2007 18:27

Apparantly v. comfy, where can i get a pair for dd she a 5/6, they only do larger sizes near us?

Surfermum · 29/04/2007 18:30

We've got mock crocs and they're brilliant for dd. We spend a lot of time at the beach and they're fab. She can run around no problem, the don't rub (unlike some of the jellies she's had in the past) and they're really practical in terms of them getting grubby or getting wet. And dd loves them too.

I think they look really cute on her. Wouldn't be seen dead in them myself though, I'm still a flip flop devotee.

alipiggie · 29/04/2007 18:35

Well living where they're made, complete devotees as is everyone in Boulder, Colorado. They're brilliant for kids, practical and comfy (yes I wear them too). They don't get blisters, you don't get sweaty feet and they can be scrubbed and are very lightweight. My ds2 even wants a pink pair for this summer.

Hulababy · 29/04/2007 18:35

DD wants some. She gets really hot, sweaty feet so think they might actually be quite good for her. Isn't the material the real Crocs (not the fake ones) are made off supposed to be breathable, etc.

How do they size up? DD is a size 10.5-11 in real shoes. What size for Crocs?

alipiggie · 29/04/2007 18:37

Yes the "real" crocs material is very different from the fake ones. Even my feet don't get sweaty when it's 40 in the shade. Best way is to try them on, they do come up rather big sizewise (well in the US anyway).

expatinscotland · 29/04/2007 18:38

DD1 loves hers.

NO blisters at all.

She outgrew one pair and my mom sent her another.

She's got pink ones just now.

themaskedposter · 29/04/2007 18:38

oh alipiggie you live in Colorado!

excellent

It is a place I aspire to visit one day

and yes, I can imagine everyone would wear them there!

Hulababy · 29/04/2007 18:39

Ideally I want to pick some up in town tomorrow, but DD will be at school. Could do witht hem for weekend and no time to take her into town with me. Might buy size I think she is, try them at home and if wrong DH can always exchange them for next siz eup during the week, I guess.

seeker · 29/04/2007 18:40

My 6 year old ds has red fake ones (bought in a little shop in Falmouth for five quid!) He loves them, wears them whenever he can, he can do anything in them - run, jump, play football... and he looks so sweet he makes my heart melt when he's wearing them. Win, win, win in my book - he loves them, I love them and they were cheap!

expatinscotland · 29/04/2007 18:40

I agree, ali .

DD1's getting some red ones for her birthday, too.

LOVE mine!

But you all knew that.

I lived in the Peoples' Republic of Boulder and I loved that, too.

I'd live there again in a flash.

loobylooby · 29/04/2007 18:41

Just wondering on their ecological stance - are they biodegradable? Notice Green Baby are promoting them but not sure whether that's because they are likely to appeal to the clientale that GB attracts or whether they are really eco-friendly. Anyone know?

alipiggie · 29/04/2007 18:43

Hi expat it's glorious here today, going to be at least 39 degrees sigh, great crocs and wading pool weather. I'm sure the material's reasonable planet friendly seeing where it was made. Sorry for the hijack - Expat had the green card medical this week - all systems go!!!!

Eleusis · 29/04/2007 18:44

expatinscotland · 29/04/2007 18:47

ali.

I've been missing Boulder lately. And even Thornton - LOL!

Hurray for the passed medical.

That's fab news!

End hijack

Crocs rule.

But don't buy them here, Eleusis, if you can get someone to send them to you from the US as they're about half the cost.

NutterlyUts · 29/04/2007 18:51

I have some for work, and omg are they comfy

(Work as a vet assistant and all of us wear them.. have converted one of the vets too

Nbg · 29/04/2007 18:53

DD has the pink ones and have bought her some Jibbitz to go on them that she picked herself.

They look cute on kids.
Plain wrong on adults.
