Anyone have a Maytag Fridge Freezer?

We need to get a new fridge freezer and dh is rather taken with the American Maytag ones. I was wondering if anyone can give me any feedback on them as they are not that well known over here... I believe we'd have to get one shipped over from the US should we go down that route.

my friends do - they love them

you don't need to have them shipped over from the US.

We have had one since 2001 and love it. we have the 26 series. it is fab, loads of space and very well built. i would recommend them very highly

go here to find the models and dealers in the uk. if i remember correctly, whoever you buy from, maytag come to fit it (if you get a large one, make sure your doors are wide enough to get it in, we took the doors off the fridge and the house to get ours in!)

we have the 26 aswell. lovingt he fact you can 'lock' the water/ice so the kids cant just play with it!

I've just been looking into fridge freezers and my step-dad read me the latest printed Which report, which had the Maytag as a 'don't buy'. Although I don't know which model that was specifically or why!

oh, dont know about that, but we have no probs with ours, and hopefully it will last forever!!!! (well, as long as we live in this house at least!)

Thanks for the info. The one we're looking at is the Maytag GC2225PEKB which is in black. We have seen one in John Lewis who said that LAytag then ship them and install them. We can't have the water/ice bit as where it is going is too far away from the water source. I did see one review on the internet that had Maytag as a don't buy brand but again there was no explanation as to why.

Don't know where you got the "don't buy" from: quoted from which online:

Maytag Trilogy G32026PEK

This Best Buy fridge-freezer from Maytag is a very quiet American-style model with a twist.....

Ah that has reassured me. To be honest I usually d most of my internet research in the wee small hours so I have probably overreacted slightly to a single bad review!! Anyhow the decision has been taken out of my hands as dh has bought it so we're just waiting for delivery now!!
