Where to buy garden accessories to brighten up our garden?

Want to get some bits and pieces to brighten up our garden, maybe outdoor lights, funky kids windmills, candle holders, wind chimes and anything else I can find (nothing too "plasticy" thou). Any ideas where to look? Tried Habitat but not much this year, not sure where else to look.

Would it be too obvious to suggest the garden centre? (sorry - not meaning to sound sarcastic, honest). There are a couple near us that are fairly large, and seem to have a fair selection of quite nice bits. Or did you want something online?

Pannacotta · 26/04/2007 22:55

I did look at local places but most of it was pretty tacky...
Was hoping to find some tasteful things, which seems to be proving quite hard! Lots of plastic, gnomes, nasty statues etc... On line would be nice, as hard to trawl round shops at 37 weeks pg with lively 2 yr old!

How about John Lewis ?

You could have a look at The White Company ? (I was going to suggest M&S but then had a look at what they had - not a great selection!)

I bought some really nice bits in Wilkinsons the other day. Beautiful glass butterflies on silver spikes to stick in the ground. They are all different coloured glass in lead. They sound horrid, but go and have a look! I like them anyway!

Thanks JN, all great suggestions and lots of tasteful bits and pieces... will be flexing my credit card shortly....

Love the idea of glass butterflies, but no Wilkinsons near here, are they on line too?

They are online, but only a small selection of stuff. The butterfies aren't on there - I've checked. Such a same, they are only a couple of quid each as well. Too delicate to send as well.

Thats a shame, thanks anyway. Will look on ebay maybe and keep my eyes open for similar...
