Hi
We have a panasonic breadmaker, which is brilliant! We bought it 3 years ago for 149.00, I think. It never needs cleaning, I think we've washed it 3 times in total. The bread tastes great and it can make dough and scones, pizza bases etc. It has a timer. The model has been improved since we bought ours, i.e a window to watch the process! We use it every day and very rarely buy bread now. Not sure if it makes cakes, I'd have to check.
Hope this is helpful.

panasonic - we have had ours for about 3 years and can't fault it. Also have friends who have got it (independently of us) and are all happy with it.

Not the cheapest though.

ps - ds1 (3) loves watching it kneading the dough !

friends of ours have the panasonic too, they heartily recommend it.

Get one that has a proper shaped tin. Ours is square rather than oblong and the loaves are difficult to cut.

we got a Panasonic SD253 Bread Maker for our wedding and its fantastic!!! Normal loaf comes out really soft and fluffy, smells great. DD will only eat bread if its come out of the machine!!

It has all the standard functions - different size loafs, rapid cook, makes dough and the manual comes with hundreds of bread receipes.

Whoops to add - also has a timer of abuot 13 hrs i think and very easy to clean.

hi, happycat. There was another breadmaker thread recently - here - 2 or 3 strong recommendations IIRC.

We also have the panasonic bread machine and we are really pleased with it. Here is a link to let you have a closer look:

Bread Machine

You can get it from 24/7 Electrical for under £80.00

Thanks Janh for digging out my thread , I'm still pleased with mine but must confess that it doesn't get used as much as I'd like. It is quite simple to use and has never really produced a duff loaf yet.

Hi,

We've had the Panasonic as well for about 2 Years now and its fabulous. They are so easy to use and having fresh bread each morning is great.
I have not tried cakes so cannot comment on that but have mad hot cross bun dough at Easter. You get a book with lots of different recipies.
