our analogue monitor has started loosing reception altogether and we have been advised to get a digital one - v. expensive. the monitor seems to be ok during the day and early evening but starts buggering around during the night, waking us up - except baby who is sound!!
my dh and mum think this is ok - we should not need to use it overnight as we are upstairs. our house is quite big as it is old, but the baby can be heard if he is upset. i like the reassurance of the monitor.
am i being silly or do you think they are right. ds is 9 mo btw.

personally wouldnt bother. With Ds I used monitor all the time till he was 12mths. With DD1 I would use it when she was sick or wheezy. With DD2 I hardly use it at all.

I do think if you are planning on having more then might buy one just to keep for next baby aswell but if it is just for the 9mth old I wouldnt bother.
