I need a new washing machine, any recommendations/ones to avoid at all costs?

It has to be integrated, preferably with a reasonably large load capacity and reasonably fast spin. It doesn't need to have a lot of fancy features but has to be reliable and do a good wash. I'm willing to spend about £600-£700.

As an aside can I have a quick rant about integrated appliances costing at least 50% more than the equivalent free-standing ones. Aaaaaagggggh! When I next move home I'm NOT going to have a totally integrated kitchen, in fact, if at all possible, I'm going to have a futility room (sic from Marslady I think ) with all the appliances in it so I can just shut the door on the mess.

TIA

sorry- missed the has to be integrated bit!

My washing machine man (who came out to officially pronounce our Hotpoint dead) said you can't go wrong with Bosch. We have the bog standard one and it's fab - you could get a great one for your budget.

Another vote for Bosch - most of our kitchen appliances are Bosch and we've had no problems.

Me too, Pamina! And how noisy my Hotpoint was! And yep, I like knowing how much time each wash has left to go.

Fab response, thanks everyone. Bosch is definitely coming out as a strong leader.
