Recommendations needed for good American Kids Clothes companies

My mother's off to California in 4 weeks and offered to buy the kids some clothes out there. She's suggested that I surf the net and find some things I'd like and send her pictures but where the heck to start. Can anyone recommend any?

What ages? Gymboree, The Childrens Place, GAP, Old Navy all good.

Old Navy has lots of great things for boys and girls. I also have some stuff by Baby Sonoma which is cute. Carter's is one of the big names in baby clothes

Old Navy is OK but doesn't wear as well as Gap or Carter's, their prices reflect that too.
