Quite liked the Johnsons one I tried last year but I am really aware of the smell. Can anyone recommend one for me please.

I am using the Simple one at the moment and so far it seems okay.

Walnutshell · 22/04/2007 20:48

(& while recommending, advise how not to get orange knees) I've given up self-tan and decided pale is good.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/04/2007 20:48

I'm using the Johnson's one but I look a bit yellowy. Not quite the right colour for me.

Enid · 22/04/2007 20:49

I foun the johnsons one horribly streaky if you stop applying it

I use the clarins one now, radiant something, expensive but a lovely gentle colour and foolproof

expatinscotland · 22/04/2007 20:50

The Johnson's one always left me orange and streaky.

I like the Dove one.

Enid · 22/04/2007 20:51

yes it is supposed to be good (dove)

tempted by the St trop one

UCM · 22/04/2007 20:54

I am using Dove and putting it on with latex/rubber gloves, this totally stops the streaks I promise, tis the first time I haven't had them. I give a very light touch over knees/heels but still wipe with a tissue afterwards. After 2 days I didn't touch knees/ankles or elbows.

I am starting to look very very brown/apricot now. LOL>

SparklyGothKat · 22/04/2007 21:01

so you just rub on with latex gloves?? I might try that tip this year

Dingle · 22/04/2007 21:04

How about the smell though!!!

Last year I found that to avoid orange knees/elbows I was applying an ordinary body lotion to the dryer areas, then just lightly cover over with the self tanning cream..IYSWIM.

Another vote for Dove!

I'm developing as i type.

pinkspottywellies · 22/04/2007 21:32

I found the Johnson's one streaky until a friend said I was probably using too much - I cut down to a tiny blob and it stopped the streaking! Didn't notice the smell though (worried now)

UCM · 22/04/2007 21:32

I have cold so I can't smell it .

Only tip there is to suck tunes or sommat. And loads of Impulse of course

Tatties · 22/04/2007 21:35

I have a Benefit one - can't remember what it's called. You have to use it sparingly, it's a bit shimmery

Flakester · 22/04/2007 21:36

Johnsons have re-vamped their formula - the smell is far less pungent this year.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 22/04/2007 21:42

I didn't notice the Johnsons smell either. Probably my B.O. covered it up It did bring me out in a rash though - which was just like prickly heat all over my neck (but it wasn't hot & sunny at the time!). It took days for the rash to go.

I might risk using the Dove one though.

kookaburra · 22/04/2007 21:58

Will give DOVE a try (like their ads - think they deserve a punt just for that!) - desperately in need as I have a sunglasses shaped white patch I need to cover... The smell put me off johnson's last year

PenelopePitstops · 22/04/2007 22:16

dove one has come out tres brown on me.....i am quite pale, is there anyway to get rid of the stuff??

MrsWho · 22/04/2007 22:48

Dove does have a smell, I have only used it once and have enough tan to last a few days though it does seem to wash off if you spend a long time in water (shower seems fine though)
