Hedstrom SEESAW - anyone got one? Is it safe?

Just bought and assembled this from Tesco (the cheapo revolving sort of seesaw that costs about £20). You can get them in Argos too.
I'm concerned that DS (3) might put his feet under the seat while sitting on it, and that pole thing that descends underneath could cause some awful injury to his feet??
Does anyone else have this thing and have they ever had accidents with it, or is it my fertile imagination getting the better of me!
There's no warning on the leaflet about making sure they are wearing steel toecaps...

I am trying to buy a four seater one but they are out of stock everywhere.
