Advice about getting a double buggy or not

i've just found out i'm pg with no.2 and ds will be 19mo when this ones born - will i need a double buggy? I love my Quinny buzz especially the pram bit so they can lie down and sleep really comfortably when they are very small (not too fussed after that), i live out in a village so we tend to drive into town and only spend a few hours in town before heading back home for meals... was wondering what people thought to one of those buggy boards that ds could sit on? or even how old he'll be before he can toddle around town? (don't want to have to spend loads on double buggy if only going to be for a few months)

Try looking and asking on freecycle now. I got a tandem one which I used for three months and just gave away back on freecycle. It will give you an idea of what you actually need. I got a tandem one cos the double one someone gave me doesn't fit through doors. The double one is easier to use though as the tandem one is the kind where the bigger kid goes at the front so is a bugger to get up kerbs. I am now using a double buggy that I was given as it turned out to be suitable from three months and is way more portable. I am also in a village so for toddlers etc DD1 walks and DD2 goes in an ordinary pushchair so I only use the double on the rare occasions I am foolish enough to head into town. Would have been very disappointed had I bought a proper one to be honest!

And let friends know you would be interested if they have any they don't use. I have been lucky enough to get three free double pushchairs/buggies. The Maclaren buggy is the stroller one that I am currently using.

is he walking yet? i would say once a child has been walking for about 5 months they could manage without a pushchair when out and about.

I got a tandem for my 2,(there is a 19mth gap) My eldest was a really confident and walker early on and is very independent, but i'm definitely glad i got a tandem. Dd is 28 mths now and i still fell we need it for certain outings. If we walk onto the village and back again (15mins each way) she gets a bit tired towards the end. I will sell the tandem and get a buggy board in the summer i think.
