Need an ISOFIX group 1 carseat...that will fit in an Audi TT and a Laguna.

Title says it all really. DH (either through early mid-life crisis or the fact that's he's never really grown up and has always wanted a 'fun' car) has bought an Audi TT. Our Maxi Cosi Tobi car seat won't fit in it (seat belt is too short).

I'm about 5/6 weeks pregnant, so in about 18 months we'll need 2 group 1 seats anyway (hopefully!) My car is a Laguna, which also has ISOFIX, so am thinking an ISOFIX one would be best to buy, as they're usually safer.

So, does anybody know which seat would be best? Failing that, do you think it would be ok/safe enough to buy a non-ISOFIX seat which will fit the TT and just use it as a spare? I could keep it in the boot for the childminder and the odd time we're all out in DH's car.

I had a friend with a TT - said the only car seat she could have came from Audi and cost I think £180. Definitely speak to Audi first. Don't know if this would fit in a Laguna as well though!

I think he is hinting that the tt is for him when he is child free

Don't joke zippi!

Seriously, although we're very happy, have been together since school, now have a 2nd child on the way etc, I did feel a bit neglected when I realised ds and I couldn't 'enjoy' the new car! Must be the hormones.

Anyway, he actually just said he may only keep the car for 6 months or a year, I think realising the car seat wouldn't fit in actually made him feel a bit bad about it.

So no-one has any bright ideas?

says a couple of things about it here here

if you scrol down there is a link and then further down at the end someone mentions graco

probably best to ask audi

Thanks zippi, I did do a google search but couldn't find much - I'll trawl through the piston heads and TT forum thing - it's a different world!

Kind of disturbing the way so many of the posters are commiserating about someone having to sell their car because of the baby!

I have an Audi S4 with sport seats and I tried to get a Group 1 ISOFIX seat but couldn't. I spoke to Audi and they were next to useless.

The Maxi Cosi one rattled and there was a massive gap between the seat base and the car seat (enough for me to slip my whole hand underneath).

The Britax one did fit well but hardly reclines at all and as DD2 does a lot of her naps in the car I needed something that was more comfy.

The Bebeconfort one needed a central top tether which my car doesn't have.

I looked at Which and the remaining ones had a poor safety score and I decided in the end to buy a normal fitting one with a better Which safety test score. I bought the Mamas & Papas pro tech which is the one I already had for DD1 which we got before we got the Audi.

HTH.
