Metal beds - good idea with a toddler?

I need a new bed and am thinking about a metal one. But I've noticed that some carry a warning that they may pose a strangulation risk to children. Is this true of all metal beds, or are there any guidelines to help me work out which are safe and which are not?

And does anybody know where I can get a gorgeous and not-too-pricey bed, metal or otherwise?

not sure about stangulation risk. i have a scar on my face where i fell and smacked into the metal bed in my room when i was 4

Don't understand why a metal bed would be more dangerous than a wooden bed???
