Calling all MICRA owners!

I know there must be someone out there who has a Micra and children to fit into it!

My mum is thinking of getting one. Only issue is that she mainly uses it for ferrying around grandchildren. She would need 2 child seats in the back and room for a small buggy in the boot. Is this do-able?

And can you put a childseat in the front of a Micra?

TIA

I have a micra, albeit an old one.

In mine two child seats in the back is the maximum, as the middle only has a lap belt not an over the shoulder one.

Would think that a buggy should fit in the boot no probs.

How old is the child that would be in the front?

In my Micra (the old style) the front passenger side has an airbag that can't be switched off so I would say no child in the front.

In the boot, some buggys fit in, some don't - you'd need to test. There will not be much room for much else.

As my kids have got older and usually need ferrying with other stuff as well, dh and I have swapped cars and I use his bigger diesel Almera and he takes my micra to work, because the micra was just getting too small for our needs.

My micra must be ancient. No airbags at all.

They are wonderfully nippy and great on petrol. Cheap insurance too.

Thanks for all your responses.

The cheap insurance/petrol/tax thing is the reason my dad wants to get the micra for my mum - absolutely no consideration of her needs and (selfish I know) the needs of my and my sister's DCs. Nothing against Micras just wondering whether dad would be better going for a slightly older, slightly bigger car.

It would be quite a new micra - 05 plate or younger so I'm guessing will have airbag in the front passenger seat. We only need 2 car seats at present (DDs 3.5y and 18months) (DNs 2.5y and 5y). Though we are thinking of no3 so was thinking about whether you could get a third seat in the front if she desperately needed to move all three at once.

Mum usually only ever has mine or my sister's children, never all at once. She never really carries anything else in the car, except for the small buggy and maybe a little shopping. Lately (because she is a bit arthritic) she hardly takes them in the car at all. Occasionally she will collect them from my house or drop them off (20 mile trip) and I want her not to be housebound when she has them, one day a week.
