went online yesterday to try to register as sister has moved abroad and want to keep our phonebills reasonable . tried to register online and it said i had to phone as there was already an account set up from our number (this is a rented flat that we have been in for a year). phoned today and got total and utter w*nker who tole me i couldn't get the international talk option as 'these days madame it's all or nothing'. when i said that seemed dodgy as they offered it on the website he backtracked. i said the reason i'm calling is that there is another account set up on this phone number and his reply was 'i'm not being nasty or anything, but you'll have to send in a bt bill to head office and then call back'.

no way am i going to go with this company if that is the level of service. anyone know of any other options?

tia x

sophable, is it just to ring your sister? Try 18866 - call rates here - it's 1p a minute to many countries.

Last month we had 2 20 min calls to Belarus (10p a min), 4 of 15-30 mins to USA and 1 10-min one to France, it came to just over £5.

You register your home no and then dial 18866 before the number you want. I have it already keyed in to the home phone memory. It's also 2p a min to UK mobiles off-peak, 10p peak, and between dialling and connection a voice says "1p per minute" or whatever, just so you know where you are. Brilliant!

janh, i owe you an immense debt of gratitude, i've just phoned my sister peak time for 1p a minute! thank you SO much. you've changed how i feel about this move completely: i'll be able to speak to her more cheaply then i could when she was up the road!
