Having Mirena Fitted Tomorrow - Any Advice?

I've already been told to take a couple of paracetamol before I go... any other tips on what to expect tomorrow afternoon and the days following so it's not so much of a shock?!

Was really excited when I booked the appointment (sad, I know) but now I'm getting a bit nervous!

its like a longer smear and mine was really not painful - just uncomfy
chat to the nurses 0- it distracts you

I had one put in on Friday - they had trouble getting mine in so I was there a lot longer and it took 2 people and it was STILL fine...

Really don't worry - it takes longer than a smear but IMO less painful really and SO worth it for the peace of mind it gives you.

Can only add to what the others have said - relax & don't be too nervous or tense. It doesn't hurt - just uncomfortable. IMO if you've been through childbirth & the undignified positions etc involved there, then having a Mirena fitted is nothing

Don't plan to do much afterwards - you need to go home & put your feet up (& also involve a bottle of wine or some such relaxant!)

It was just like bad period pain for a couple of days - and bleeding for a week or so (make sure you've got sanitary pads as you can't use tampons to start with).

Yeah you have to have two people normally a nurse and a doctor but first doctor couldnt get it in so another one came in to give it a go!
