Camcorder recommendations please!

I need to buy a new camcorder but am totally confused at the options out there. I don't need anything flash, just record dd doing stuff, take in on holidays, to weddings stuff like that.

What do you have? Would you recommend it?

so I will be watching this thread if you don't mind.
I want a good one for the summer and to take away on our holidays so want one that can record lots.

I bought one a few months ago that is a DVD and you can just take it from the camcorder to the DVD player - it was a sony handycam and I find that really good. x
