Does anyone get Junior magazine?

I've just subscribed to it as we are limited to what magazines we can get out here and I'm a bit bored now with PP as I'm not pregnant and my yongest is nearly 2 so most of the mag has become irrelevant. Also buying the magazines here are soooo expensive!

So what do you think of Junior - thought it looked quite well written.

tis a bit posh.
Full of very expensive childrens clothing retailers ads.

I find it quite enjoyable though the fashion shoots are a little unsettling sometimes (ie little children looking a lot like adults). It's very middle class - assumes everyone can afford expensive holidays, designer wardrobes for their darlings etc - but no more than women's magazines like Marie Claire. Most of the articles are interesting and it does cover a wide age span. Was pleased to see that they seem to be generally against the whole "leave your baby in a room to cry on it's own, make it fit a rigid routine" philosophy - or so it would seem from some recent articles on sleep that they've had.

I guess what I'm saying is that I really like it and am really p-d off that I don't seem to be able to get since I stopped shopping at Waitrose - may very well subscrbe myself.

They have a couple of reasonable offers on at the moment - which is why I was tempted! I just thought the quality of the articles looked quite good. Didn't really get a feel for the advertising as I've only looked at it on line. I guess that's to be expected in most mags! My children are kitted out by those great designers Cherokee and Tu!!! That's not going to change

I do.
Thinking of cancelling.
Ludicrously expensive clothes
Lots of 'gosh aren't I dippy but rich' type articles and more high brow child devpt. stuff which is just lifted straight from text books (psych. and so on) and repackaged.

Pregnancy & Baby one was better.

Still, was an omprovement on the others on the markey which assume everyone feeds their kids crap and shops at tesco.

Some of the articles are brilliant, and not patronising, like in so many other parenting magazines. OK, we can't aford to take three children skiing in the alps and stay in a chalet with a nanny for a fortnight, or jet off the the Caribean, with our children dressed in Dior, but we did have a lovely few days in Prague after reading a travel article about taking children there. I subscribe, and love it.

I'd love to be dippy but rich.

was reading old Junior pregnancy and baby mags whilst overdue a few weeks ago and it's CRAMMED with mnetters - journalists, article subjects etc. - pretty sure I read a letter from you in there Moondog

the fashion is a bit nauseating but I do think the articles are good, did prefer the Pregnancy & Baby version. we get a sort of lite Australian version here which combines the two.

it does LOOK lovely
