Contact lenses - any good place online?

My Dh is looking into getting contact lenses online. He tried both Sainsbury's and Tesco's but they said his prescription (April 2007) is not up-to-date Anyway, is there any place online with reliable and cheaper contact lenses? He has a -2.75 prescription, nothing out of the ordinary. He wants the daily ones and currently pays around £90 for 2 months. Thanks.

Wow that's expensive! When I lived in the UK I used Boots and was very impressed. The only problem with on line is you don't get the after care service which is quite important. I haven't used any online companies so I can't recommend - sorry!

Yes, he thought that was a bit expensive too (Optical Express I think it is). The others he tried were about £90 for 3 months, so a bit cheaper, but then they ask for their very own prescription which I suppose puts up the price, so a bit of a scam. How can an April '07 prescription be out of date? And have they really contacted his optician? We'll have a look at Boots as well, maybe they have a better deal. He wouldn't mind going in, so not necessarily online, just cheaper

I've taken other prescritions to places before and have been told as long as it is not older than a year they will use it. I can only say again that I found Boots to be great. Good luck

I get mine from Specsavers. I only use the daily disposables in the summer (cos of hayfever) but I think it costs about £20 pm. The rest of the year I use all day all night and they cost about £12 pm. I went in to Specsavers initially but they post them to the house every 3 mths - and I have to go in for a check about once a year.

I use daysoft haven't ordered for a while but they are alot cheaper than £90!

My DH gets his contacts from an online company in the US. Has been using them for the last 2 to 3 years so I guess he's happy with them. Only thing is you need to be sure of your precription and type of contacts you're going for. I'll ask DH for name + cost this evening if you're interested.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 13/04/2007 15:40

Thank you. That Daysoft site looks much cheaper. I'll keep it open for DH to have a look. And Specsavers seem better priced too. I know DH tried several types before settling on the ones he wanted, I hope it's one of the cheaper brands. He needs them for working, rarely uses them at weekends (just glasses if needed).

MimieD - thanks, that would be good. We've been paying these high prices for a while now and DH has finally decided to "do something about it" - which means me making enquiries

I'm using focus dailies from \link {https://www.discountcontactlenses.com\this} US online website.
A month supply is only £20 per pair. but it will take sometimes for it to arrive with standard international or you can pay more more if you want it quick.
