How can I remove hardened playdough from sole of shoes?

Any ideas? I have some fab boys Timberland open toe sandals for sale, prob put them on eBay, but they have blimmin playdough caked on the soles. any ideas how to get rid and make them look nice for selling? xxx

Put them in the freezer, playdough will freeze/harden and then you can chip it off?

oooh, could try that, but the playdough is quite hard as it is. will try it though.

hot water. breaks down the dough even when hard.
