New Ford S-Max

Anyone got any views on this? I'm fed up with my Laguna not fitting 3 children in the back and DSs not being able to have friends home for te etc without lots of hassle. This seems to fit the bill. Dont like the Zafira (brother has one) and don't want a permanent 5+ seater like a Galaxy.

we are going to get this for our next car - friends have it with 3 children ( baby. 3 year old and 5 year old) and they love it, roomy plus has the 2 extra seats in the boot. We have a 5 series estate now with 3 and despite what dh thinks, we DO need a bigger car. also hassle every now and then when I can't ferry other children around. it's had pretty good reviews

We have the C-Max and I am really hankering after the S-Max. The C-Max fits three in the back but I know what you mean about not having friends home for tea. My SIL has the VW Touran which is good and cheaper than the S-Max but I like the build quality of the Ford. A neighbour had the Renault Grand Scenic which looked great and the boot was soooo big plus if you have a renault already you may get a better deal from a renault dealer.

LadyTH has one and raves about it

CloudCuckooLand · 04/04/2007 12:15

we have the C Max too and I loved the look of the S Max but couldn't justify the extra cost (we only have 2 children and it's a nightmare to park round here as it is).

It's a lovely car (the S Max) - much nicer than the Touran imo (and I had a good look at that too).

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2007 12:16

It looks ideal. I'm going to go and look at one tomorrow I think. I need 2 booster seats and a forward facing seat and still have space for the DSs to be able to put their seatbelts on. In the Laguna, the forwward facing seat means you can't access the sodding seatbelt sockets without a lot of bottom shuffling and groping!!

I think the Grand Scenic is an ugly car though I was tempted by one because I've loved the last 2 renaults I've had. The s-max looks nicely styled on the outside (shallow? Me?)

it's nicely styled on the inside too

they will go you a great deal - I got our C Max on an amazing 3 year finance deal with all servicing costs included

CloudCuckooLand · 04/04/2007 12:22

give you a great deal not 'go' you one duh!

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2007 12:44

I shall be going to look at them tomorrow with my dad in tow. He knows more about cars than me and is less likely to be swayed by sleek styling

S-Max does have better styling I think. DH convinced that we will get one as our next family car but I'm secretly worried that if we do, a) I won't be able to park it, and b) I'll want to have at leat one more baby because we have the extra space . You'll have to let us know how you get on tomorrow .

BabyDragon has her first pair of wellies... I wonder if there's a Wellie Storage Box in the S-max.

OP posts:
laughingduck · 04/04/2007 15:42

Ooh, a wellie and walking boot storage box would be FAB.

Pamina, ds2 quite likes his but it has taken him ages to master walking in them plus he has quite small feet so they come off very easily. I am considering crocs for all the kids for the summer - like wellies but for the sun .
