Is the Lascal kiddyguard stairgate worth the high price?

My little one has just started properly crawling so I need urgently to buy stairgates. I like the look of this Lascal Kiddygate one www.kiddicare.com/invt/stglaskgrz?D=kiddyguard&Ntt=kiddyguard&Ntk=primary&N=0
as it is retractable and with no metal bar at the bottom you can trip on...but it is approx £55! Worth it? Or can anyone recommend an alternative please?

Yes definately worth it if you need to put it in an unusual shaped/size place.

It's a pain to open and close though (and noisy if you do it slightly wrong). I ended up not bothering and climbing over it most of the time! We had 4 different types of gate in all and the easiest to use was the BabyDan wooden gate. It didn't have a bar to trip over, was extendable and the locking mechanism was easy to use but toddlerproof.
