Perfume help

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice on a perfume I should look towards picking up for my wife.

The other day she was talking about the fact she's ran out of her daytime perfume, also they (the stores) no longer sell the one she likes.

Now I've recently sold and item on eBay and I've got £35 sat in PayPal which I can move over, granted this may not get much (or a large bottle) but this is going to roll around in her handbag, not sitting on her dressing table, please keep that in mind.

If I mention the few perfumes she's liked over the past number of years could anyone please recommend a name I should look at that I can easily order at perhaps my local Boots or Fragrance Shop (our town isn't that large)?

The most recent perfume was, bought for her by her sister and she was heartbroken when it a) ran out and b) discovered it was no longer on sale.

Rose Perfume from Cath Kidston - No longer on sale

Her long lasting perfume, though incredibly cheap she's had since a teenager and adored was

Sun, Moon & Stars from Karl Lagerfield - No longer on sale

The next two she still has on her Dressing table

Daisy - Marc Jacobs

Romance - Ralph Lauren

If anyone can recommend anything that I could look at that would be fantastic.

Thank you,

I don't understand what you're asking??

thegirlupnorth · 07/09/2017 08:16

Try and Google search the ones that are discontinued, I just got one on Amazon I've not been able to get for years anywhere else!

@SoConfusedandUpset

I was looking for advice on what perfume I could possibly pick up for my wife, based on the above choices she's had before. I was hoping somebody may have had similar perfumes likes and found a new perfume, that they could recommend.

@thegirlupnorth

I've tried that, but unfortunately people seem to know that Sun, Moon & Stars is currently out of stock and are charging silly amounts for the smallest bottle.

Sun moon stars was one of my faves too :(
Try Elizabeth Taylor diamonds and rubies - Amazon sell it for £11!!!
It's by the same nose - the great Sophia grosjman - as sun moon stars and is very similar

I used to wear Les Belles De Ricci by Nina Ricci and it is a scent I absolutely adore and reminds me of my childhood. Unfortunately, it's discontinued and those that are selling it, like OP says, they are charging stupid money for it and will just smell of alcohol now as the bottles will be so old SadSadSad

Check out fragrantica.com
It will tell you which current perfumes are like your old discontinued ones

Knope2020 · 07/09/2017 15:57

....a quick look on fragrantica.com tells me you may like my beloved Dior addict 😁

Knope I knew you'd be here Grin

YY to picking up discontinued bottles on Ebay.

Although if she liked CK Rose, Paul Smith Rose is in budget and a nice straightforward linear rose scent? Also widely available. Or L'Anais Anais (the original one) This might be a good nostalgia one for her.

Soconfused was there any need for that - OP's question was pretty clear to me!

Knope2020 · 07/09/2017 16:06

😁

RodBell · 07/09/2017 19:55

Thanks all for these suggestions and the link to. I'll pop into town tomorrow to see if they're available over the counter and have a smell too. If not I'll get one ordered.

I'll also check out the fragrantica.com site too.

Thanks again.

if you look on fragrantica and search for the ones she used to like, there will be reviews etc, but they also usually list similar smelling perfumes

I've just put a order in for Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Rubies from Amazon. That looks the closest to S,M & S :D

Just for future information with Christmas not far off, Marks & Sparks have some lovely floral perfumes, including several rose scents, Rose, Summer Rose, and the lovely Fragonard Rose de mai.

The prices are very reasonable, starting at about £6, and they have several handbag sprays as well.
