Lego with motor for a 7 year old

Am looking for a lego present for DS 7th birthday. I was looking at the technics sets where the lego has motorized parts but they all seemed to be aged 10+. Does anyone have these sets for a younger child. I don't want to get one if it would be much too complicated for him to want to bother with but if he would have a good chance of building mostly himself with a bit of help (he doesn't like needing help) then I'd get one.

My 8 year old can manage them with very little input

The lego train set is fab. Got it for mine when he was 6, 3 years later he still plays with it.

Thanks that's good to know. Sorry to sound thick but on the train set what other than the track do they put together do they get to build the train?

Sorry forgot I posted! Yes, they build the trains. DS has this one www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/lego-and-bricks/lego-city/lego-60051-city-high-speed-passenger-train/p/135688?gclid=CjwKCAjwlrnNBRBMEiwApKU4PK7erC1-MR6OUJ3EaL9QsdvdPZWewEp7ahE3l_LFsQi4qGVujRUIBRoC1MEQAvD_BwE . There's 3 trains (more like trams) and a station platform to build. It's pricey but definitely been worth it.
