Anyone have a VW Polo?

I'm looking to buy a reliable car that's going to get me from A to B with a child's seat in the back and reasonable boot space. Very occasional motorway driving and frequent shortish duel carriageway trips.
I'm tempted with the VW Polo, but struggling to decide between saving some money and going for the 1.0 litre engine, or forking out a bit more money for the 1.2 litre. I'm not sure what sort of difference it will make!
Wondered if anyone could share any experiences/advice?

We've just sold a polo due to lack of boot space. We have a baby and a 7 year old.

The pram just about fit but that's it. No room for anything else

Thanks Proudbadmum, how did you find it to drive?

Loved our Polos. Had a few 1.2s then a 1.0. There was no difference! The new 1.0s are so efficient that they're as quick as the old 1.2s and much cheaper to tax.

Thanks Scarletsienna, that's interesting to hear. Did you find to 1 litre ok on motorways etc? Yes the cheaper insurance aspect is definitely a plus point!

I have a 2016 plate Polo and love it. Great to drive, feels solid but zippy. I have the 1.2 engine mainly because it's hilly where I live.
Comes with some great extras as standard including a neat handbrake assist thing that really helps with hill starts. The interior and trim is great.
Best small car around.

Yes definitely. I was surprised on the test drive!
