Extractor fans and cooker hoods - any recommendations please?

Our house tends to be rather damp, so I think we need to fit an extractor fan in the kitchen - how do we decide whether a fan will be enough, or whether we need a full-blown cooker hood?
Any recommendations for either, please? Don't want something too big or flash as we just have a very basic gas cooker - like this one (although we do a fair amount of cooking). Thanks .

tricky because if you did have a cooker hood it wouldn't be over the rings as the top bit is in the way.

you can get powerful fans and less powerful hoods

how big is the kitchen and do you have an outside wall close ot the cooker where you can vent and get access to fit the vent?

you probably want a hood which extracts about 400 min litres a minute

chimney style hoods are there for the looks not necessarily more powerful

the regular hoods are generally the cheapest

hoods start at around £60.00

you will need an electrician to wire up probably

chimney style stainless hood from about £130.00

can't have a hood really so you need a fan

Thanks - am useless at knowing measurements , but cooker is against an outside wall, so no problem with extracting, iyswim. I've rung the builder who did our extension to ask them to quote for putting it in, but wanted some background info first. I guess just a straight extractor is going to clog up with grease etc, isn't it?
