What is Rhodium finish

I don't normally wear sliver especially silver earrings but I've revived a birthday gift and it's a sliver necklace set the earring say sterling sliver with a Rhodium finish

Last time I wore silver the earring hole became sore after a while hence the reason why I've been avoiding silver but thinking it may be due to cheap silver

I react badly to nickel and silver, but rhodium is fine. I think it's what they use on white gold too. Might be wrong.
Rhodium often needs re-plating though.

Think Rhodium is the cheap form of platinum iyswim (just checked and it's 'part of the platinum group' of elements). I think you should try it - the harder the metal going say silver - gold - platinum (platinum being the hardest), the less reactive the metal which should mean the less problematic for you. If it's got silver underneath tho, the rhodium could be really thin and it will wear off in patches - I have to get my white gold wedding ring re-played regularly.
