story tapes for a three year old

We're off on long car journey (London to Normandy, via the Chunnel) a week on Saturday. Need to stock up on some tapes (or CDs). Already have a few of the anodyne nursery rhyme ones, but a story tape or two would be nice. Any recommendations, apart from the Gruffalo? DD1 is a bright sparky little three year old.

Barefoot Books do some lovely book/tape or CD tie-ins - ds loves the pirate stories, they have other, less testosterone-charged ones too.

Bon voyage et bonnes vacances! This has to be the most-earned holiday on Mumsnet so far!

The huge bridge over the Seine near Le Havre is awe-inspiring and will have small eyes popping (and large ones watering as you pay the toll).

mi - there's some fabulous new tapes/cds from the bbc - a mixture of songs and stories on some, just stories on others. there was a sampler free in junior last month, i think. they are top quality (dh approves because the music is real, not just electronica instruments iykwim) and about a fiver each. let me know if you can't get them, i can nip into the shop for you here. x

Yes yes yes- My Naughty Little Sister - the business. I am embarrassed to say mine still like listening to it now, and ds is 9! Other all-time favourite (from about 3) is Teddy Robinson . Have a lovely time!

get Cat in the Hat Dr Seuss CD - also do one with Green eggs and ham, cat in the hat comes back, dr seuss A-Z with adrian edmondson and the other bloke from the young ones (can't remember, going mad today!). They last a long time and if she is familiar with the books, she will absolutely love them.

I can't find it online anywhere but we got both CDs in Borders (I think one may be called Cat in the Hat and the other Fox in Socks) - but they both have around 4 or 5 Dr Seuss stories read by Edmonson and the other bloke.
