I'm off to the harrogate nursery fair- is there any prams/ brands you want specific info on- ie are you umming over a pram and want to know what the newer version is gonna be like? or want to know what silver cross/quinny/chicco are bringing out.

Absolutly anything really- all the big manufacturers are going to be there, not just prams but other products as well- so just let me know and i will report back each evening!

yes please - when I was in Spain a few years agao I saw a lot of double buggies where the children face each other - it seems so logical. One child faces the pusher and the other child faces away from the pusher but can see his /her sibling

It's a bit late for me now but I'm just curious why they're not to be found in the UK as I think they're brilliant

FirstAtForty · 24/03/2007 13:24

Just noticed one exactly like that on the Bebe Confort site!

bebeconfort

Haven't looked into availability here though.

FirstAtForty · 24/03/2007 14:12

meant to say you have to scroll down a bit to see the 'twin' version.

ooh how exciting nearlythere, will be interested to hear any quinny and bugaboo updates.

And you probably know what to look for in terms of our search for the perfect pram, we've gone on about it enough in the past (reversible, light(ish), narrow, air tyres, holds car seat etc) so let us know if you spot it!

angelstar · 24/03/2007 14:37

Hi,

I would be interested to know if there are any new rear facing pushchairs that will be out soon.

Linda x

Teaandcake · 25/03/2007 11:32

Ooh lucky you! Am unable to go to Harrogate this year as I have a gorgeous 2 week old boy. Will have to go next year!

Would be interested in the new Bugaboo accessories, I think there have been some changes to the transport bag or something?

Have fun, will look out for your report!

ceolas · 25/03/2007 23:23

Any news nearlythere?

Seoulmum · 26/03/2007 02:57

Could you find out if there are any changes to the micralite and the accessories that are available?
Thanks

JillyBaby · 26/03/2007 10:46

Hi nearlythere,

In a previous post you mentioned rumours of a Jane rear facing pushchair. I'd be very interested to know more about it if there is such a thing. How does it fold? Does the Jane carrycot fit onto it? When will it be available?

Thanks very much.

nearlythere · 26/03/2007 14:51

sorry guys will post a long message in a few hours- my mind is boggled at the moment!!! See you soon!

suffering pram overload!!

OP posts:
ceolas · 26/03/2007 21:11

Ahem...

nearlythere · 27/03/2007 10:10

ok ok ok!!

right then i'll do it by brand but bear in mind that i am in a travelodge near harrogate with a very sore head and still have the prestige brands still to tackle!!

Graco:
same old pretty much- still trying to damage babies by shoving them in a very upright car seat- not only that but they've come up with this ingenious idea that if you buy a graco travel system you never have to take your baby out of the car seat because they've produced a swing that the car seat fits on! So baby up and dressed in the morning- into the swing, nappy changed, onto the buggy, out the door, walk arounf all day, get home, car seat onto swing, then baby into bed!! (if you hadn't guessed i'm not a fan!!)
Although to be fair the new logico car seat range is pretty good.

Cossatto:
Now owned by supercover quilty who also own mamas and papas, you can guess where their range is going! Lovely new pramette in either girly colours or boyish tones- identical to the SC 3D/M&P prammette, also a car seat to fit on included at a very good price, downside is no base for the car seat.
travel system wise, much the same but in different colours/winnie designs.
Hula Stroller- perfect for summer
Diablo- better than the techno and in new colours coming out soon (petrol blue, chocolate, blueberry)
furniture wise cossatto were the best at the show!

Britax- nothing ever changes there- newe colours on the seats but the vigour range is staying the same with no tweeks whatsoever!

Jane:
again staying with their standard range with new products being introduced in October (next nursery fair @NEC!) including a carrera style with reversible seat, seen the prototype and it had its flaws but hopefully they will be ironed out before its put into production!

Bebe Confort:
At Last bases for the creatis- us retailers were getting a bit confused about these so i will explain- the new bases (one standard with belts/ one isofix) WILL NOT FIT THE ORIGINAL CREATIS! so BC have sent us all new stock which isn't compatible with the bases- they have grovelled and will be putting it right soon, so your local INR will soon have the base compatible car seats! Oh and leather loolas are avaliable on special order from selected outlets! (I have 6 na na na na na nah!)

First wheels:
Same old really, new colours and accesories but to be honest it was a bit dull!

Quinny:
No change here really, still sticking with the buzz and zapp as the main sellers- whispers of some kind of one hand fold coming soon on the zapp!

Maxi-cosi:
Great new designs on the seats but continuing the wagtail colours as well, again leatherette will soon be coming in to the range.

Chicco:
well they haven't really changed in the last 25 years so why start now! CT0.1 trio auto-fix is the flagship product but the range will be expanding slightly with a new reversible CT stroller in October and a super compact fold travel system a la zapp i think!

Babystyle:

Lovely and traditional still, not much to report really!

Hauck:
seem to have improved their quality, i road tested a roadster duo and it didn't fall apart so looking good for the coming season, as usual their sister brands are producing some weird and wacky stuff- look out for Jeep, I'coo, Ashari, Traxx etc

I-Candy:
God they're snobs! the whole stand was curtained off and only the designated suppliers had access! The pear kis ok- not going to set the world on fire but still useful if you've already got the apple- it will ONLY FIT THE APPLE, not the cherry as some expected!

Silver Cross:
Well, my love afair with SC continues. The colours coming out are scrummy- much nicer than the vivid and disturbing (IMO) Pistachio, Mothercare will continue to have exclusive rights to the Jet Sport 3D but with the new colours i wouldn't be too fussed- lovely dark denim etc!
Also branching back out, they have released a new car seat, a stage 3 booster to take over after the explorer and also new furniture ranges including a contempo style highchair ( same price etc but which name would you prefer on it, Graco or Silver Cross!) so that looks to be a winner!

I've overloaded myself now!

Today i am doing:
Mamas and Papas
Bugaboo,
Stokke,
Red Castle and more but those are the only ones that have stuck in my mind!

God this place is expensive! i have to order all my stock while i'm here so i'm reeling a bit at spending nearly 23 grand so far!!!

OP posts:
JillyBaby · 27/03/2007 10:20

disappointed that the Jane reversible is not out sooner, so looks like it's the M&P Ultima or ICandy Cherry for me.

Thank you for taking the time to write all this nearlythere.

bristols · 27/03/2007 21:02

Nearlythere - I want your job! Got any vacancies?!

tinkerbellie · 27/03/2007 21:37

did you see the babystyle easy fold saw it on google tthe other day, but's it's not out until next month? folds a bit like the zapp and is a little similar to the vit but apparently it reclines but it doesn;t say how far

how do you get a job like that i love pushchairs

nearlythere · 28/03/2007 12:49

Ha Ha!! i've finished my pram marathon!!!! I will update on the last few brands tomorrow as i'm still sorting out my notes!

Ont he subject of the job- i used my pram addiction to start my own business, we now have a few shops around mid-wales and an internet presence! Much better than working for the NHS!

ps Jilly- buy anything but mamas and papas! Honestly, seriously- they are making massive losses at the moment and its showing in the quality of the new ones!

OP posts:
nearlythere · 28/03/2007 12:52

babystyle easyfold- not at this show but saw it at the NEC last october and it reclines about the same as the spider (and actually looks quite like it!) not as small folded as the zapp and still will have balance issues!

Oh forgot to say cosatto are also bringing out a bugaboo/infinity/bayamo type copy thing but its S**t and very expensive!

OP posts:
angelstar · 28/03/2007 13:38

Hi nearlythere,

I was thinking about getting the britax vigour 4. Are they any good? Do you know what the new colours are? Also when would the new colours be out?

thanks
Linda x

nearlythere · 28/03/2007 14:14

hi there, the vigour 4 is good but overpriced and heavy to be fair to it. The infinity is in my opinion the next best thing to a bugaboo! The lime is staying, so is aqua, black, red and orange, new will be a strawberry/pink

OP posts:
bristols · 28/03/2007 14:44

Oooooh, I work in the NHS too and was only talking about loving prams and setting up a business with DH on Sunday.... Maybe I could follow in your footsteps?? LOL I don't think I have it in me tbh. No business sense whatsoever! DH suggested I go on Dragons Den but I would rather poke my own eyes out.

Good for you!

KatyR · 28/03/2007 21:56

HOW did I miss this wonderful thread?!
Nearlytheee, my life is in your hands what do you think... I need rear facing, fold up small freestanding, not hideously expensive.... Pls suggest things - do you not rate the icandy cherry much? It is my current favourite as its light too.....? Where is your online shop? Would love to have a look

vickiyumyum · 28/03/2007 22:11

ooh wow, nice lot of info there nearlythere.

wish i could ahve gone!

look forward to hearing about the otehr brands too.

do you have a shop you can advertise? get us pramaholics to come and buy from you????

mummy2aaron · 28/03/2007 22:18

ooo yes a shop plug would be good

FirstAtForty · 28/03/2007 22:26

thanks for the reports nearlythere, v interesting!

nearlythere · 29/03/2007 10:03

We will soon be moving the internet addy to www.littlejackhorners.co.uk- will keep you updated- website will go back live as soon as i have finished adding all the newbie prams etc!

on the cherry- TBH i don't see what the fuss is about i-candy, they are essentially a copy of what bugaboo do very well, missing some of the features and very nearly as expensive when you add it all up (the apple anyway!) IMHO the cherry is passable but it doesn't excite me in the way that some of the others do! I can see no reason to buy the cherry over the infinity (this is why my husband hates me suggesting prams- i suggest whats nice and best for the customer not the most expensive!)

well anyway!!i'm off to unpack my new xplory!!!! ooh always wanted one, fell for it and bought one of the demonstators from the show, bright blue with the matching accesories (should have been over £700- got it for £350!!) CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Mums and Mums To Be BEWARE OF POSTER NEARLYTHERE!!!!

Firstly I would have thought that this board was reserved for non-commercial use which by quoting their upcoming selling website details would raise some initial questions.

Then you have to look at the blatantly false information that has been posted regarding the Harrogate Fair that I was lucky enough to visit with my brother who is researching the possible opening of his own retail unit.

NEARLYTHERE seems dismissive of every company exhibiting there (and some that were not) that they have quoted with the exception of Silvercross and Hauck so my suspicion is that NEARLYTHERE is either employed by one of these two companies OR cannot get an account with the others and therefore likes to vent their sour grapes!

  1. Apparently Cosatto withdrew from this fair so how was NEARLYTHERE able to get all of this information from their stand at Harrogate? I think that both Cosatto and Mamas & Papas would be interested to hear about NEARLYTHERES assertion that they are co-owned as I have been assured this is not the case. How did NEARLYTHERE see Cosatto's new bugaboo/infinity/bayamo, be judge and jury in judging it "S**t and very expensive" when Cosatto WERE NOTE EVEN EXHIBITING AT HARROGATE??? How can NEARLYTHERE say "furniture wise cossatto were the best at the show" WHEN THERY WERENT THERE???
  1. How does NEARLYTHERE know that Mamas & Papas "are making massive losses?) Are they Mamas & Papas accountants?
  1. I-Candy's stand was most certainly not curtained off as claimed (but interestingly NEARLYTHERES darlings, Silvercross had a reception desk that had to be negotiated before you could walk on the stand which is conveniently ignored). My brother would like I-Candy in his shop and we certainly had no problem in accessing the stand which was open on all three sides (and loved their products).
  1. How did NEARLYTHERE visit Mamas & Papas and Stokke WHEN THEY WERE NOT AT HARROGATE and how did they get an xplory when Stokke were not there and I did not see one xplory on a stand at Harrogate??

EVERYONE PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NEARLYTHERE IS TRYING TO INFLUENCE YOU ACCORDING TO THEIR COMMERCIAL REQUIREMENTS!!!!
