Techno XT or Techno Classic?

What are the differences? Looking at the 2004 models of either... can't work out what's different about the classic except it's 10 quid dearer (oh, and kiddicare seem to have stopped selling the XT )

oh and would you bother with a footmuff?

xt is the best without a doubt

cazzybabs · 08/07/2004 19:37

Have you tried the glasgow pram centre - they seem to do cheap prams online - it was the cheapest I found for the pram I was after (but as dp has allowed me to buy a glider chair I have given up on my new pushchair dream!)

fairydust · 08/07/2004 20:05

the differnce is that the techno classic comes with a footmuff if you dd/ds is smaller then i'd go for that one but the older they get the less use they get out of a footmuff.

have just looked on kiddicare and they seem to have both in techno xt is £99.99 the classic is £129.99

HTH

fairydust · 08/07/2004 20:08

BABYS-MART HAVE BOTH AND ONLY £4.00 DIFFERENCE

GeorginaA · 08/07/2004 20:13

Oh balls... I swear that xt wasn't listed on there when I looked an hour ago - I even did a store search because I couldn't believe they didn't have it. Grrr... and I've just bought it at the glasgow pram centre for £30 dearer cry. Got a sexier colour though

Decided against the footmuff - he can have a blanket wrapped around his legs and like it

fairydust · 08/07/2004 20:17

we didn't have the footmuff for ours either as dd wouldn't go in the buggy with one on.

glad you got what you want i don't surpose glasgow pram centre price match do they????

GeorginaA · 08/07/2004 20:21

Yes, they do! They say they'll beat the price of any nursery retailer - have sent them an email to either ask for a price match or an order cancellation... fingers crossed

GeorginaA, I've got a McLaren Quest which is VERY similar to the XT. As far as I could see the differences were:

Quest = 100 quid, XT 50 quid more (no pound sign, sorry!)
XT suitable from birth, Quest from 3 months
XT has padded straps, Quest doesn't
XT has bigger wheels, Quest smaller wheels
And I think that was it. dd was 3 mos when I bought mine so I went for a Quest. Very good so far. And I don't have a footmuff, she has a blanket if it's cold.

gingernut · 08/07/2004 21:50

If you ever regret not getting a footmuff (and we always managed without TBH), Babysmart sell them for about £28 (including P&P). (I recently bought one for a friend). 3 colours - black, grey and navy.

www - I thought of that but ds2 is only 8 weeks and I need it for a trip in a week's time, so ideally I need it to lie flat I could also do with it as a general "going into town and need to fit it into the car" pushchair as my big pram just stands by the boot of my micra and laughs....

GeorginaA · 08/07/2004 22:51

gingernut - thanks for the footmuff tip! I still have some all-in-one coat/trouser-suit things from ds1 that I'm hoping will fit ds2 during the right season so I can get away with just a blanket over his knees! Oh well, it'll make him hardy

on the footmuff idea-have a look at www.snugglytots.co.uk, they have loads of different patterns and fabrics and are reasonably priced too...and quick!!I got two in march for my ds and it was less than the price of one in mothercare...they also do small ones for car seats-brilliant for those winter babes

Wills · 09/07/2004 11:56

I bought the classic because my dd2 was only 4 months and whilst the Quest was still suitable I find that dd2 goes for a better sleep in one that lies virtually flat and has nifty little pull out bits that extend the width of the seat area meaning her feet where up as well. This meant I could take dd1 out in the afternoon and dd2 could still have her 2 hour sleep without me having to take a pram instead. As I bought it in winter I got tonnes of use out of the foot muffler and at least it stayed put and didn't fall off like she manages to do with a blanket. Having to wash the blanket would mean that I would forget to put it back with the buggy and we'd go out with her cold opps I know. But mainly I loved the fact that I could detachable and wash it and the colour of course! .

fairydust · 17/07/2004 01:46

GeorginaA - did they price match it for u???

GeorginaA · 17/07/2004 01:51

No they didn't Their argument was that the kiddicare one was last seasons fabric/colours and that's why they were able to sell it so cheap, which was fair enough. I really wanted the chilli(red) one so stuck with the glasgow pram centre - was thoroughly impressed with how quickly it was delivered and how good their customer service was though. They phoned to confirm it was in stock and to check the best date for delivery (next day in our case!) and then phoned back within 5 minutes after checking the price check thing. Would use them again except that dh has banned me from ever buying a pram ever ever again!

Love the Techno XT though - yay, they've fixed the brakes in the new model! Much better than my old Volo...

So pleased you got the one that you wanted after all that was what mattered

I'm also a 100% techno fan and love it

GeorginaA · 17/07/2004 11:24

Yes, the colour is the most important thing after all

It's weird though, I'd got used to the big heavy pram - I had to keep checking through the viewing window that I HAD put ds2 in the pushchair ... it was so light I was convinced I'd left him somewhere
