Ergo baby carrier - anyone used with the infant insert?

if so, is it any good. DS2 is 8 weeks and 14 lbs, I wasn't sure if it only really accommodated titchy babies. He particularly likes being carried in cradle position - hence the question.

I am reviving this one...
I love my Ergo, but didn't get it until DD was about 1. DC3 due next week and I am wondering if the insert is any good or should I use a wrap until baby can go in the Ergo without the insert.

My biggest concern is that I struggle to do it up when its on my front.

DH used ours with newborn insert from when DS was a few days old (I preferred the stretchy wrap - DH thought that was a girly step too far).

It was all fine - once we got over the obsession that DS was being smothered (a little bit of PFB there) and it's easy to get them in - as I remember you put the ergo on first with the insert in place and then just slide the baby in.

HOpe that helps.

Thanks for that. I am thinking of getting a stretchy wrap instead of the insert...why did you prefer the wrap?

I found it more comfy to carry - seemed to spread the load better and I think because they are so close to your body you notice the weight less. Also I found it easier to get DS in and out of and it looked more comfy for him as well. I never worried about him being in the right position in the wrap, whereas in the Ergo we were always jiggling the insert and wondering if it was done right.

Also, the wrap was great for bundling up and taking out with us.

I am expecting DC2 and am looking forward to getting the wrap out again

Thanks for that tallbirduk. I got a second hand insert, but I may try and convince DH that I need a stretchy wrap too {grin]. I have a woven one, but it just looks like hard work...will give it a go though once DC3 is here...hopefully sooner rather than later.
