Have been looking at units which hold plastic boxes for toys. Ikea stuff is cheap but looks a bit crap. I love the GLTC horizontal unit with fabric boxes but it seems a lot of money. any idea where I can get something bright and not plasticky but for about £150???

i have the trofast storage from ikea ,in the pine . It is very sturdy . I put stepped one on top of the wide 3 section one and it works well cos my dd can get things out for herself . And more importantly can pit them away again!

Make that PUT

I guess I could decorate the pine box bit. Not keen on the plastic boxes but do you find them practical? I like the idea of the horizontal base coz then as you say he can reach his toys himself

I wasn't keen on plastic at first but at least you can clean them easily , as I found out when my dd spilled her drink inside one LOL. You don't see tons of wood as itsjust a framework to hold the tubs. they do it in white aswell I think!

Good point. Easier to wipe dust and stuff off too (not that I dust very often mind you!)
Thanks, will get dh to have a look at them later

We just got a white bookcase from Ikea and wicker baskets. Works well and aethestically good.

If you have a netto store near you, they are selling these from Monday for £9.99.

We have the GLTC ones but not bought from there-got a deal where you buy three get one free. They really are great, drawers are washable and dd (22mts) has no problem pulling them out.
Frame is incredibly sturdy-has supported my fat ar*e several times.
Expensive yes but I think worth it.

LOL got duster out this morning, managed one bedroom and have been on here for 20 mins instead! Wicker baskets? Now they would look nicer I think. But I am hankering after the GLTC ones.

I think wicker baskets would be dust collectors (big time) no offence Bozza
thats a nightmare for me as I hate cleaning

bozza · 15/03/2007 09:48

They don't actually seem too bad, because they are on shelves so not directly open. Or maybe it's just my standards that are low. Actually I find that there is a lot less dust in both DS and DD's bedrooms than in our room.
