I used one of thse when they first came out and it was CRAP

the reviews of the new ones on Amazon are very very persuasive

anyone got one?

I have had mine for over a year and have found it very good. I don't find it too painful - less so when the hair isn't too long. Also find that I get used to the sensation after a couple of minutes so it doesn't bother me. I don't do underarms though! My re-growth seems slower too and have saved a fortune in waxes.

I dont midn the pain as long as they are effective

I have quite hairy legs

i've got an old braun one and it does ok on armpit but leg hair is finer after many years of waxing and it struggles. how could new one be different? it just is what it is surely?

yoyo · 14/03/2007 12:07

I find it very effective. I have quite strong dark hair, albeit rather patchy after years of removal, and it does a good job. I use the Braun Silk epil which was a bargain on Amazon when I got it (£20 or so).

Saw your posting on the other thread. I'm tempted too, Enid. Not sure I'm brave enough to inflict pain on myself, though! Perhaps I could get DH to do it for me, but then again, perhaps that belongs on the other thread about what you do in front of your partner!

fishie · 14/03/2007 12:30

right enid i have been to amazon for a look. the business bit of it looks the same as mine, there is just some extra stuff about massaging.

if your hair is at all coarse you should be ok, but it takes me really ages so boring and noisy. if you can afford / can get to waxing i'd say do that.

suejonez · 14/03/2007 12:35

I love mine - you need to keep on top of it and do it more often than waxing. Say every two weeks. tat way it doesn't hurt and it doesn;t take too long. I think waxing is more effective but don;t have the money or time to do it - epilator has definitely saved me money. I even do my underarms (the first time is a bit eye watering but persevere)

Enid · 14/03/2007 12:36

yes not quite sure when I would do it

can never be bothered to go for a wax though (childcare etc yada yada)

suejonez · 14/03/2007 12:38

if you do it regularly you can do it for 10 mins before going to bed every couple of weeks. I wouldn't waste precious time un-childed to have my legs waxed!

fishie · 14/03/2007 12:39

in that case you prob wouldn't use it - is the one bit of personal grooming that i think oh another time, can't face it. i am utterly vigilant re toe varnish, eyebrows etc all year round.

Enid · 14/03/2007 12:39

well I have to shave my legs so I spose it would be when I do that

couldnt BEAR for dh to see me doing it though

I've got one and it was great last summer when I only had one child and was pregnant so slower hair growth. Now though I never find the time and it seems to hurt more so I've had to shave as a last resort before swimmimg.

I did this once after weeks of not removing my leg hair and looked down to see I had only done one leg..my hair is so dark it was certtainly noticable
