Can you recommend a reliable good quality printer/copier/scanner/fax please?

I've got an ancient printer that has served me well. But now that I am about to be working from home, will need to update/upgrade to office quality.

I wandered around PC World for an hour last night looking at the various models of HP, Lexmark, Brother, etc. Quite honestly, they all looked fine, but before I dive in, thought I'd ask here...

Has anyone got any suggestions/recommendations? Would also like to hear any 'whatever-you-do-don't-buy-one-of-these stories too please. Thank you.

I think our multifunction printer is an HP - seems to be fine, parents and best mate have the same one and haven't reported any issues

work out how much you will be paying for ink and whether photo quality colour printing is necessary

lexmark multifunction here (don't think it faxes tho) - it's fine but colour photos not good (but that could be my software)

Thanks to all for feedback. Sounds as if any of the 'usual suspects' would be fine.

Final thoughts from anyone else?
