look at t his castle!

frogs · 05/07/2004 22:21

My ds was given this castle for his 4th birthday by my in-laws. I was a bit sceptical as we also have a dolls house that just gathers dust, but he plays with the castle ALL THE TIME. On a cost-per-play calculation it has to be a toy bargain for a small boy obsessed with soldiers.

codswallop · 05/07/2004 22:22

we have the pirate ship that spends a lot of time being hidden

we got it too young really and ds1s pals would dismantle the rigging and dh got po-ed of fixing it

have proemised ds1 he can have it back

I'm waiting for the Noah's ark to come out (this Autumn) want to get it for dd's Christmas present NEXT year Ithink at 2y 9m she'll be a little young for it this year!

littlemissbossy · 05/07/2004 23:10

ds has the vikings, long boat and seamonster, loves them

Marina · 06/07/2004 17:10

ds got the Viking longship for his birthday as well as an excellent diver/wreck/coral set that I don't see in the current catalogue.
Ds adores his Playmobil, even more than his Lego. My favourite moments are the "Dustmen versus Viking" wars or finding a be-earringed pirate skulking in the builders' portaloo.

CODDY!!!! You are a wonder!!! That site you've linked to is one I saw ages ago then forgot about and have been trying to find again for the past couple of weeks, but I couldn't remember the name of it!!! Thankyou!!!!

Bagpuss30 · 06/07/2004 17:25

Love Playmobil in this house . Ds has the airliner and baggage truck at the moment. Dd will have the Victorian Dolls House for her 3rd birthday (14 months away yet) as we bought it from the Playmobil website for £12.99! They made an error on the price (which should have been £129.99) and dh spotted it and ordered, they confirmed and then had to honour it . Best bargain I've had. We keep buying the room sets for it so that she will have the whole lot to play with at once although I think I will be the one wanting to play with it as it looks so good.

Tissy · 06/07/2004 17:30

Bagpuss, my Mum (!) has the Victorian dolls house, with all the bells and whistles, and it is the absolute favourite toy with all the grandchildren (10 at last count)even the (older)boys get fun out of arranging the people in compromising positions (e.g. a maid and the man of the house doing a "69" on the balcony). I like to sit of an evening after the kids are in bed straightening it all out again. I'm really jealous you got it at that price!

Bagpuss30 · 06/07/2004 17:44

LOL Tissy @ compromising positions! I had forgotten about it actually, as we are saving it. I am not looking forward to putting it all together though!

auntyquated · 16/09/2004 19:30

yes we have the woodland one, they love it

auntyquated · 16/09/2004 19:34

we ahev the farm, the poloce car and helicopter, bin wagon, caravan, road works

they play with it loads and if you look at eBay they ahve a very good resale value

oh, and we've got the nativity set

nutcracker · 16/09/2004 19:42

Are there sets definatly worth the money then ????

Was thinking of possibly getting the palace or dolls house as a combined xmas pressie for dd's.

auntyquated · 16/09/2004 19:45

how ols are they, nutty. it's not for small fingers or those who still put stuff in their mouth. loads of little bits under 1cm. everything comes apart too, so if they're exploreres and pull things apart it becomes very frustrating for you who has to keep putting it all together. rarely does it break completly, unless stood on

nutcracker · 16/09/2004 19:57

My Dd's will be 5 & 7 by then.

Would have to be kept out of Ds's reach then though if there is lots of small bits.
