Bicycle and toddler seat - can you recommend ?

I want to buy a bicyle that is easy to ride and will accomodate a standard toddler seat at the back.

I am not the tallest of women, so something easy to get on and off and one where my legs will reach the peddles

Any brand names/types would be great as I don't have a clue where to begin.

Thanks !

As a short legged person myself I sympathise! I wanted to make sure I could reach the ground comfortably so that I would feel safe having ds on the back. In the event he was completely hysterical so the seat soon went on ebay but that's another story. Anyway, it's the frame size that's important. I can't remember what mine is but I just went to Toysrus and got a mountain bike. It's quite small in comparison with dh's bike but doesn't look like a kid's bike iyswim. I would just go to a bike shop and sit on a couple to see what frame suits you.

If you go to a bike shop or somewhere like Halfords, they usually have several types you can try.
I have a mountain bike, and have just got dd a bike seat for the back.
Manufacturers usually tell you what size bike frame the seat is designed for.
Have fun

I just happen to have a small mountain bike with a child seat on the back - only used it a couple of times as a) I rather foolishly bought it when I was 6 months pregnant and b) I seem to have lost my confidence.
If you'd be interested I can email photos. I'd want £85. The seat is a Hamax Kiss.

Thanks to both of you. That's a good idea, will go and sit on some bikes. Can get the toddler seats on ebay quite cheaply, so will do that.

Thanks tooticky. I would have to be able to pick it up though as don't want to pay expensive postage. Which county are you in ?

Wiltshire

Thanks tooticky, unless you are happy to drive your bike up to London or Cambridgeshire , I don't think I can afford the postage. Thanks though

Ah well.

I would recommend the rhode gear toddler seat, I have had the basic one and the recline one (1st one got destroyed in a fire)
and they are both very solid, with good safety features and comfy for your little one.
Don't forget to get good fitting helmets too, I like the met ones for little ones.

thanks bensmum - that is really helpful. I will go out shopping and look on ebay soon !
