Question about Mothercare Travel Cot mattresses

Does anyone know if the mattresses that come with the Mothercare Travel Cots can be used on their own? It is just that in the catalogue, separate Travel cot mattresses are available, and I wondered whether you have to buy these additionally to use with the included mattress, or whether they are just in case the included mattresses gets damaged or worn.
Anyone know?

I use the included mattress but it's not very soft. My travel cot has a moses basket hang which i use for ds3 was more comfortable than mattress at base due to the metal supports. I also wrap an unused cot duvet around the mattress as it is only about 2.5 cm's deep.

It's not very thick - more like a duvet really, so I have always used it in conjunction with the provided one.

Thanks for the info - it definitely sounds like I need to get an additional mattress, or certainly something to make the included mattress softer.
Thanks again
