First baby, should we get an SUV?

Hi, we've got our first baby due in June and i'm wondering if the family car should be replaced with something more child friendly. We currently have a Jaguar XF saloon, its got a big boot (although not very high) and can take a buggy + shopping / luggage but a lot of my friends and colleagues are saying I should swap it for something like a Nissan Qashqai (or however that's spelt) or Kia Sportage. Something higher up so getting baby in and out isn't such a back breaking chore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is having a normal saloon car a problem?
Thanks.

I had a three door micra with two under two, we survived as well. Even managed to fit a double buggy in the boot. My kids seem unharmed.

back breaking chore

We managed ok with 2 kids and a 3 door Fiesta, my bulky pram also fit in the boot.

Why dont you wait till the baby arrives, then update your car if/when necessary, rather than finding problems where there may be none☺

I have a sportage. I love the car but parking in a busy car park is tricky as they are wide cars and having room to get kids in and out can be a problem when parking in between other cars

Three kids, never owned a car - you'll cope.

I do find it a pain in the arse getting my 2 year old niece into the back of my 3 door Corsa, but I also find plugging her into her own Antara a hassle. But i am pretty small. And she is a pretty good wrestler.

We are contemplating a SUV type thing with extra seats for our third child. Even them I'm wondering if we can manage without if DS grows enough to be out of his booster seat before baby is born.

You def don't need one for your first so don't get one if you don't what one.

We managed with a corsa and a 206 for DD. We bought an Antara when we found I was expecting DC2 but that was for need for space with 2 DC's and a mahoosive lab who needs a mammoth boot. It is a ball ache getting a toddler in and out of. To be fair if it wasn't for the dog we would have got something smaller but he was cramped even in a vectra.

I'd go straight for a Q7 or bigger. One kid you can't have a car to big.

(Though our 3 door Saxo sufficed - though 5 doors would have been better)

Don't be bloody ridiculous.
Unless you are joking in
which case , good call

I managed fine with a fiat panda. I've only just upgraded to a fiat 500L but DS is now 7 and what with DH being 6'4" it was getting a bit snug Grin

wow! thanks for all the response! I'll stick with what we've got then.
