My requirements are pretty simple:

100% cotton;
reasonably tasteful in a unisex kind of way (no cartoons, footie or Barbie themes);
not too expensive (none of this £40+-for-a-kids'-duvet-and-pillowcase-set nonsense);
Ideally, available on-line, so I don't have to drive to IKEA.

Is this too much to ask?

Try the White Company, here

ah, i was going to suggest ikea, until i read your penultimate line....

in that case, try next.co.uk. the children's range is yeuchh as you describe but i think some of the adult patterns are also suitable for kids, e.g. there was a denim/blue check i was considering for ds (until i saw a really fab cheap set in ikea - i know what you mean though, we hate going there too).

Try La Redoute, frogs. Website is here - you can never link to individual pages but just go to Interieurs and then duvet covers (yes! really!), there are pages and pages and I think they're all 100% cotton. (Some of them only have silly square pillowcases though. But you could get plain ones that match instead.)

i got some nice ones online from John Lewis. Quite tasteful!

keziah · 26/06/2004 21:43

oh got carried away - pretty sure they arent 100% cotton - sorry

keziah you beat me to it! Was just about to suggest JL, their sale starts on 6th July and they do good discounts in this type of thing.
