Sky vs. Virgin

Nothing to do with the whole Sky One thing but I would like to know what people's experiences of both Sky and Virgin (ntl, telewest or whatever it is) Currently with Virgin but have had no end of problems wth our broadband. Finally got an engineer out who recomended we call to book an appointment to have an installation engineer move the modem so it no longer has to be a wireless connection. Anyway tried calling today and after 2 hours of being put on hold and passed round 6 people in Indian call centres and three people in the UK I was told I had to be put through the customer services and when they did I got a recorded message telling me they were shut and then it just hung up. I am so mad with the whole debacle and am sorely tempted to switch to Sky. Price wise it seems fairly comparable its just we won't be able to have as fast a broadband service but apparently we will in about 6 months. Any advice would be great!!

the wireless moder is nothing to do with virgin, we have virgin and we have a wireless modem but it's not part of the service as far as i undersyand, you have to check the modem and if necessary just buy anotherone

virgin here but as ntl they were crapola, wouldn't go for sj=ky now after recent murdoch vs branson events but suspect sky are probably better

I was promised a special discount price from Virgin in December. I am still waiting for this special discount now 4 months down the line. I have just sent them an email about it so I will wait and see what they do. If they dare to take the higher priced deal out of my bank, I shall be straight on the phone to sky and BT. I don't think Virgin are any good at all.

I love my Sky and i'd fight anyone if they tried to take it off me

Sky everytime.

We used to have ntl - lived in an area where you can't have dishes. Were told that when we moved, it would be put in our new house for free. 2 weeks before moving we rang them, they said it would cost £75. Told them to stuff it. They told us it would cost us 2months subscription charge because we hadn't told them we wanted to cancel soon enough. Spent 45mins on the phone before we were cut off. Called back, spent a further 45mins on the phone. Cancelled the DDs & told them to take us to court. Eventually they gave in.

Had Sky installed in our old house 5 years ago. No probs with them, have had Sky+ for almost 2years now.

You get more channels with Sky, and better interactive services.
