the slight lip on it is great for catching spills.

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2007 19:40

Thanks. That really good value...but they don't deliver in NW and there isn't an Ikea particularly near. Was hoping to buy online.

There's one in Warrington

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2007 19:45

Warrington & Leed are equidistant so I think I'll try and check if the tables are in stock 1st! It is exactly what I'm looking for.

Ikea one is the best value. We have the plastic ELC one and that is fine and can be left outside. I think they may have a discount on it at the moment.

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2007 19:49

Thanks Skyler - have just checked out the ELC plastic one but it is out of stock. They have a totally beautiful one reduced from £70 to £50 but hadn't planned to spend quite that much!!

Ikea - I just replaced DD's today with a lovely big grown up desk!

PestoMonster · 03/03/2007 19:53

We got a blue wooden childrens table & chairs from Ikea nearly 8 years ago now and they are still going strong... although mainly used as a phone table now

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2007 19:54

Am nagging DP as I write

Ah that is no good then. Def a trip to Ikea required. Do ring the store to check stock though as we went for the Easel they do for dd1's b'day and it showed in stock on the online checker but they had none and hadn't for over a week according to the lady there. I was v annoyed, but a cheap icecream at the end did placate me a bit

BettySpaghetti · 03/03/2007 20:05

this set from Ikea is a bit more at £19.99 but is fantastic too. Really sturdy ( I often use the chairs to stand on to reach things off the tops of the kitchen cupboards). They come untreated so you can paint or varnish them.

Go on, you know you want to go to Ikea really....

mollymawk · 03/03/2007 20:10

We got given one with chairs with animals for the backs. It may have been from John Lewis (thus probably not cheap). I will have a look.

mollymawk · 03/03/2007 20:14

Found it now. Chair alone is £20 so probably unsuitable!

mapleleaf · 03/03/2007 20:26

Woolies online have a table and 2 chairs for £25. they will deliver free to your local store.

weepootleflump · 03/03/2007 20:26

I have the Ikea one shown by BettySpaghetti and it is fantastic. I've given it a lick of white eggshell paint so it wipes clean really easily and have put some little gingham seat pads on - people always ask if it's from 'the white company' .

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2007 20:28

That IKEA one is great too. Ooohh! Am now off to research Woolies one

Prob worth looking on ebay too, might save you a trip to IKEA and you might find the IKEA set already painted. Lots of kids tables/chairs on there. I got a sweet round table with 3 chairs and stool from Mothercare called the SVAN set (GLTC also sell it), was expensive but again you might find it on ebay... We use the little stool to put drinks on and its really useful!

fridayschild · 08/03/2007 21:55

IKEA is the place and I hate the shop

we got a waterproof tablecloth thingy from john lewis to put on the top and DH nailed it down, people keep asking me where we got it from

funnypeculiar · 08/03/2007 21:57

Go on, go to Ikea, you know you want to ...
Could you pick up some stuff for me whilst you're there ?
