We probably need to replace ours (either that or I need to replace my body ). So what have you got and is it comfy?

Very basic wooden frame from Warren Evans (warrenevans.com) and a latex mattress, can't remember where we ended up buying it from, it was an internet buy, but the very best thing about our bed is that it is a superking (6'wide by 6'6" long) so plenty of room for all three of us plus an assortment of cuddly toys etc.

So doesn't anyone else have a bed then

Apparently, Seb, everyone else sleeps on a pile of organically-farmed, humanely-slaughtered and chemically-free tanned sheepskins. I expect we'll find out that beds are "so last century" if anyone else ever deigns to talk to us!

Am currently mulling over the idea of the Malm bed from Ikea, but the range of mattresses is too bamboozling for me.

I've got Iron Company beds and mattresses which are lovely, but prior to that had a very cheap and cheerful pine number from some nondescript place which was also great.

DarrellRivers · 03/03/2007 19:13

mainly it is firm and the size of it is superking, so loads of room for a good nights sleep

tortoiseSHELL · 03/03/2007 19:13

I love our mattress - it's a Dunlopillow(sp) I think, but it is SO comfy! We did have a divan base, but changed it for a pine base, which is lovely.

super king size tempur on a squigalina from and so to bed - it is brilliant!

Tinker · 03/03/2007 19:37

Erm , how much are these memory mattresses - we also need a new one.

grouchyoscar · 03/03/2007 19:38

IKEA kingsize sultan foam one with a topper

Cost about 350 quid in all but hell it's worth every penny

and 25 year guarantee so if you spread the cost over time it's super cheap.

Frame is a handmade one by a local woodturner. Had it 15 years and I doubt we'll replace it

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 03/03/2007 19:50

I've heard good things about the memory foam mattresses from www.sleepdetox.co.uk

Aefondkiss · 03/03/2007 23:40

oh the ikea one sounds really good.

I thought our memory foam was cheap, but it is just a double and cost £310. I have to say, we've had it a few months now and I am still not sure I like it, it is very comfy, but I wake up too hot through the night and tmi? very sweaty, the thing is I am usually very cold, so think it doesn't suit me personally, dh doesn't seem to have any gripes about it.

MrsSpoon · 03/03/2007 23:41

We have a Tempur mattress and it is fantastic.
