Experiences with leasing?

I am looking at leasing a family car for personal use, it will only be used to drop the children off at school and at weekends , holidays etc as i don't drive to work.
It all seems too good to be true and I'm wondering if it is a bad idea with needing to use it it to transport young children around in case they spill something on the seats. I'm just wondering what would constitute 'fair wear and tear' when it comes to sending it back. Will i live the next two years panicking every time i leave it in the supermarket car park in case someone knocks it? I've read some horror stories online about people who have been hit with a big bill when they come to give it back, is this very common? Obviously i am not planning to trash it and will keep up with maintenance and servicing etc!
