Techno vs Quest vs ?

I want to upgrade my exhausted Maclaren Daytripper. It will be used by my small 2-yr-old until another baby comes along and then by the baby from about 6 months. The pram is mostly going to be used on pavements, but the pavement in our (very long) road is full of potholes / tree-root-bumps / broken wonky kerbs. And there is a pathway that is just trodden down earth.

So - Techno or Quest? How much difference do the bigger wheels make? And the weight?

Its got to be small and fold well (I've got a PowerTrack in the garage for serious walking and for the baby when its tiny).

We have a Techno classic for ds2 who is 19 months. On the whole it is good for the school run - lots of broken wonky pavements etc. I do find it heavier to push now though than when we bought it when ds2 was a newborn and I'm fairly certain that the suspension works against his weight a bit now he is heavier. It is a good pushchair though and I'm certain it will last until he no longer needs it.

OK. So, opinions on the Quest? Anyone tried both?

I think quest would be ok from 6 months - not as comfy as the techno. We have a triumph and dd wasn't happy in it until she was 1(although we bought it when she was about 7 months) but that is even more uncomfy than the quest.

I have a friend who has teh quest and she uses it with her ds who is 7 months and am sure she's used it a while.

Hi again fruitful, (hi Wheelybug)

I have both. I used the Techno when DS was small then the Quest later (I use the tube so lighter is better for me)

Quest is fine from 3 mths but you'd probably want to put a footmuff/sheepskin on it for a 3 monther as it's not v padded

Quest tends to get stuck in minor potholes. Not used the Techno in a long long time but my mother found it fine on their long gravel drive

We've had a quest from when DS was 6mths and its fine - he dosen't find it as easy to sleep in as his big pram (m+p)but its great for going in the back of the car and is easy to manouvre and light. I looked at the techno and apart from price the main reason we chose the quest was because it was lighter. The only downside we found was the shopping basket is a bit hard to get to especially if the seat is reclined. We've been very happy with it - DS is now nearly 10 mths and the 'big' pram's days are numbered and will soon be relgated the garage.

I'm selling an older style techno if you're interested - large wheels like the techno but lighter than the current xt - more like the Ryder. I just have too many buggies again........

BuffysMum - thanks, but need to get pg first, in order to persuade dh that we need another pram.

I'll have to go and play with them both in a shop I think. But you can never tell what they'll be like on rough ground. I think Mothercare should have an all-terrain pram-testing section at the back.

Thanks all.
