What light setting do you use on your Paperwhite?

The instructions say to have it very low in dark rooms but bright in light environments. I quite like mine pretty brightly lit in darker rooms as it makes the text seem crisper - so I leave it on 18 all the time.

What's your preference?

12 or 13 everywhere.

10 for me. I rarely read it in total darkness or really bright light though.

TheQueenOfItAll · 15/01/2017 08:33

I always have mine on the lowest or very low settings, but my eyes are sensitive to bright lights

Queen I got mine for Christmas and as I say have had it on 18 constantly, but have noticed my eyes have felt a bit strained. I thought it was because I needed new glasses, but having got them last week my eyes were still getting achy! I've just read for an hour in dim light with the light set to 12 and what do you know, no achy eyes. So maybe I'm more sensitive to light than I thought! Much more comfortable, I think I'll stick with this Smile

I like it on 8, otherwise it hurts my eyes.

TomatoTomAto · 27/04/2017 20:52

High, about 18, in the day and about 9 in the evenings. When I read in bed it'll be the only light source so low is perfectly adequate.

samlovesdilys · 27/04/2017 20:53

Mine is on 7...and I keep it in airplane mode to save battery, hope that helps!!

TheMasterNotMargarita · 27/04/2017 20:55

5 at night or DH moans it keeps him awake.
I would have it about 12 during the day.

MimsyBorogroves · 27/04/2017 20:55

My voyage is on 11 or 12, less during the night.

Moogletea · 27/04/2017 20:57

Just checked and mines on 3

TheoriginalLEM · 27/04/2017 21:00

3?? how can you even see it? i have mine on about 8

Moogletea · 27/04/2017 21:04

I do most reading from it at night in bed with the light off so it's perfect. I've never thought about adjusting it when reading in the train but I will from now on - it's never crossed my mind really to change it!

RustyBear · 27/04/2017 21:10

Usually on 10 or 11

NoctisLucisCaelum · 27/04/2017 21:11

2 or 3. I read it in bed with the light off mostly.

bruffin · 27/04/2017 21:14

7 but only read in the dark

Chillidawg · 27/04/2017 21:46

8 all the time
Only just found the control, hit MAX by mistake and boo-d myself Blush

TomatoTomAto · 27/04/2017 23:36

Mimsy what's the Voyage like? I've looked at them online but my paperwhite is absolutely fine still.
I do wonder if they're much superior though.

BarbaraofSeville · 29/04/2017 20:52

I have mine on 6 all the time. I read in bed in the dark and can see it well at that setting and it just looks like it's unlit in the daytime and I like it like that.

SparklyFairyDust · 03/05/2017 16:41

I have sensitive eyes so all electronics are on the lowest possible, but I find the Paperwhite to still be quite bright.

SoupDragon · 03/05/2017 16:45

Mines on 3.

halcyondays · 03/05/2017 17:03

On 4 all the time, bright screens make me headachy.

BlueChairs · 03/05/2017 17:12

19 😊

ThatWhiteElephant · 10/01/2018 22:01

6

imnottoofussed · 10/01/2018 22:06

Usually on about 13 as I read it during the day or evening with house lights on. If I read in the night I would turn it down to five or six. I just tried it in the dark on number 3 and I wouldn't be able to read that and I don't need glasses Confused

Dragonglass · 10/02/2018 19:48

mine is on 6 all the time. 18 sounds incredibly bright.
