Curtains

I don't sew (ie can't) and I'm looking for a nice, plainish (eg stripes or checks or red or navy) pair of curtains for a boys' room. Oh, and cheap too if poss.

Any suggestions? I looked round TJ Hughes, BHS (no curtains???), Knightingales (sp?) and one or two others today and there was nothing.

Can anybody suggest a good place to look?

Thank you!

Places I would try are: Homebase and other DIY chains, IKEA, Habitat, secondhand shops and Curtain Exchange-type places. HTH

janh - Have you got a Rosebys near you? They're quite cheap and have good variety. If not, they have a website www.rosebys.co.uk

Janh, I'm not sure whereabouts you are but we have a store local to us called Dunelm, they have really good prices on things like curtains, duvet covers towels etc.
Good luck.

Chanel, there is a Roseby's in Burnley, about 10 miles away, I had never heard of them before and I'm off there this afternoon! I hadn't heard of Dunelm either and they're not in the local phone book.

IKEA and Habitat require a major expedition unfortunately - I might get some really cheap temporary ones for now and then see what they've got when I do go!

Thanks for all the ideas, I'm sure we will get something soon!

Janh, I've found Dunelms website, they have a store locator which you might find useful . It's www.dunelm-mill.co.uk

Thanks, Munchie, they have a store near Preston which is not too far for me. Roseby's was no good yesterday, Chanel - not a lot of stock and nothing suitable in the size I need - useful to know it's there though!

Have you tried looking in Next Directory ? I seem to have bought most of mine from there or John Lewis.

ChanelNo5 · 07/06/2002 17:01

Sorry to hear that janh, especially since it wasn't on your doorstep like mine is. Hope you find something suitable soon.

janh · 08/06/2002 13:57

That's OK, Chanel, as I said it's a useful place to know about!

Twink, I hadn't thought of Next, I had a look on their website and they have some gorgeous ones.

What about a catalogue, Freemans have loads and you'll get a discount with your first order and you can pay monthly with no interest added. R

Do you know, Rhiannon, I am so dumb, I actually have several catalogues, including Freemans, and I had looked in them but only at the curtains pages (velvet full-length etc) and not at the bedroom pages which have the curtains along with the duvet covers. Duh!

I think that might be my best bet - thank you! And thanks again to everybody else for great helpful suggestions!
