Does anyone rate their Ladies stuff?

It's OK, but not as good as the kids!

I have problems as I'm only 5'2" and they don't do petite skirts/ dresses or trousers.

I have a few of their tops, which are good quality, but annoying because mostly they can't be tumbled dry, so have to be spread out on a twoel somewhere. I've got a ruffle neck top, on which you have to iron the ruffle, FGS! Much prefer my M+S one, which can be machined, tumbled and worn!

Having saod that I've got a polo top from them recently, which is great.

I always take advantage of any free postage/ returns offers to try things out, then return them if I don't like them.

HTH

Thanks Tissy. I'm only 5'1" so no long skirts for me!

Generally agree with tissy, but I have a few boden things that I live in, they have been washed and worn a squillion times (and tumbledried-dont act.read labels-whoops) and are fine. 2 prs needlecord trouser-really nice fit-I,m 5.2 as well and used to altering trousers anyway. 2 stripy fleece tops and for summer a pr of floral cropped trouser-the most comfortable trousers ever. I have some of the jersey/ruffley tops but hardly ever wear them. So either big success or turkey really

tamum · 18/06/2004 15:32

I'm 5'2" aswell I find their trousers just right actually. My general impression is that it's incredibly variable. I've got some stuff I've loved, other stuff (admittedly years ago) that was very shoddily made (velvet top with the cuff fraying off the sleeve), and other things recently like pull-on trousers that wouldn't have looked out of place at £2.99 on a market stall. I haven't bought anything full-price from them for years, I always buy sale stuff. What does make me cringe a bit is when you go somewhere like Calcot Manor and there are entire families head to toe in Boden, regardless of whether the patterns/colours clash or not. I always feel that they must really have bought into Johnny's way of life to go round like that

Tissy · 18/06/2004 15:40

I must try the trousers then-surely if they fit someone of 5'2", there ought to be loads of taller people on this thread complaining that their trousers/ skirts are too short?

I usually wait for the sales, too, although did buy a floral jacket from them this season. Haven't once worn it

A good thing about Mini Boden though is you can get a good price for them on Ebay when outgrown

BooMama · 18/06/2004 18:06

I am a real fan of Boden but can only afford it in the sale! However although I'm 5'7 I find the regular length of trousers too short and have to always go long so I don't know what even taller people would think... Also, although I love their tops in most respects I generally find them a bit short - not great when you need to cover a belly!!
I really love the style of clothes that they sell - I have been buying it for about 4 years and all my stuff has lasted really well. I'm holding out for the summer sale starting soon...

tamum · 18/06/2004 18:09

Aha, so you were right Tissy! Small people, buy Boden trousers now

I know exactly the feeling about jackets. I have a pink denim-style jacket I bought last year that has yet to leave the wardrobe

Piffleoffagus · 18/06/2004 18:17

Their sizing is all askew I've ended up sending most of the stuff back! Sometimes I'm a 10 but 26 on top? Then the sleeves are too long, and I am average to slim build 5ft 6.... pretty ordinary I thought!
If it fits though, it is excellent stuff!

clary · 18/06/2004 23:59

I had an odd exp when I just bought 3x pairs of trousers; prvious trousers and skirts there in size 12 tooo big, so got size 10; one pair was fine, one a bit tight, one ridiculous and couldn't do them up. Like all tho so sent back 2nd 2 and got in 12 which do fit. Moral is always get a free returns label. They will usually send you one if you call up and complain. Do like their stuff but agree with Tamum about hideousness of head-to-toe Boden (unless you are Johnny B of course)
