I'm a luddite really.

I think I want a ps2 - are there different types? Am hoping there may be some bargains around as ps3 is due in March.

recommendations on games for a 7 year old would be good too.

I'll ask dh in a bit. We've got a PS1 of dh's from years ago and ds1 (just coming up to 6) loves the football game on it.

We've also got a PS2 that I bought for dh just over a year ago. On there, ds1 loves the 'Cars' game and another one called 'Jungle Party'. They are both for kids (certificate U). The jungle party one is quite good because you have to memorise colour sequences, copy musical rhythms etc so it's quite educational and good for their coordination.

We limit ds1's use of it though. He is absolutely not allowed to use either during the week - only on the weekend. On the weekend he is restricted too. I'm much stricter than dh though - dh would leave him on it cos it keeps him quiet but I really don't want him glued to the screen all day so set the timer for him for half an hour.

Oh, we got games off ebay I think and I'm sure you'd PS on ebay too.

go to somewhere like GAMESTATION or GAME.

they sell new and pre owned games from as little as £3.
My advoice would be to buy a few of the newer titles but to get him more of the pre owned games (they are all checked and come in good condition) as they are so expensive otherwise.

all games have an age appropriate rating on them the same as DVD's now so you know what yoru getting.
My Ds loves the car racing type games and things like Flushed away or Incredible as they are more forgiving of slower reactions.

I think Asda have a PS2 for about £70 at the moment

Thanks - will investigate Asda.

Oh Buzz is fantastic!

you get a set of 4 hand buzzers. in the older versions you answer questions like in a game show and you have to hit your buzzers. with eth younger versions you use the buzzers to shoot cocnuts and things.

that and EYE TOy are my fave things! lol

tortoise · 17/02/2007 21:37
