CAR SEATS IN A 2005 PLATE VAUXHALL ZAFIRA DESPERATE ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!!!

Just gone to put our mothercare forward facing car seat in only to find that there is no way it will fit. Even on the tightest possible, it slides all over the place. I really need a car seat for dd as soon as possible. She is a year old and outgrown her rearward facing one. I have looked on the Britax fit finder website and the only one that looks anything close is the freeway which has been discontinued, plus a main issue is I don't know how well the freeway did in the car seat safety tests. Our car hasn't got the isofix points in it otherwise I would go and get a britax isofix if it fitted. Does anyone know if vauxhall charge for fitting the isofix points? What stage 1+ car seats has everyone else got in these? They are quite popular cars but I have no idea what car seat will fit. I haven't got a lot of money to spend on a new car seat, and I think if I go to the likes of halfords they will just basically try and sell me the most expensive one that will fit.

Help I am desperate!! Thanks in advance.

Good luck with this one, it is notoriously difficult to find seats that fit the "family" Zafira.

We have a 54 with isofix, but the Maxi cosi isofix is not a great fit with a lot of movement. We have a M&P Pro Tec, which is the best fit we have found, although still not perfect. But be aware that you really need to try them in your own car, as I have heard of differing lengths of seatbelts in Zafiras.

We had a Freeway for years and were happy with it . It did ok in Which ? several years ago, and is still available in stores (They only recently discontinuted it). The mothercare ones are notoriously hard to fit and some were condemned as unsafe by Which ?. The Britax Eclipse is very similar to the Freeway btw. Have you looked at the Maxi Cosi Priori and Tobi as they seem to fit most cars well and are great safetywise - perhaps try a Halfords where they will at least try them in your car and you can walk away if unhappy ?

ask a Vauxhall garage - they should have a list of ones that they recommend. I have 2 that were recommended for my Peugeot at the time but fit fine in the Zafira - but they are a different design to most car seats as they don't have a 5-point harness but a tray across the front.

we have a 05 plate life with isofix fitting ,when we got the car we had a britax renaissance for our 2 yr old dd ,hi liner for 7 yr old ds3 ,these were placed on either side on the back seat but when dsi 18 and ds2 16 were in the car i couldnt see out the rear view mirror if one of them sat in the middle ,so had to get dd a new car seat as the renaissance wouldnt fit in the middle it tilted to the side because the seat is raised in the middle, we spent a whole weekend trying car seats ,we went to m&p ,mothercare world ,independent nurserys and halfords between all the stores we must have tried dozens of seats it was either buckle crunch or she was to tall for the seat or it just didnt sit right on the bump in the middle of the car in the end we got a britax evolva ultra 123 even though the car seat fitter in halfords said according to the britax web site it wouldnt fit our car,in our case it was a bit more difficult as i wanted it to fit the middle seat .HTH

We have 3 Britax Eclipsi in the back of our 2001 Zafira for our 3 year old twins and 2 year old. It was the only one that we could fit 3 in side by side. You can use the middle strap too. Mothercare World were really good(go for an older assistant) they took loads out onto the pavement for us, Halfords were awful. I went in saying we need 3 and I'm not spending a fortune. We got £20 of each of them as they were last years colours. They have been super seats as they recline. We went to the Britax website as you can type in the model and year of your car and it tells you which of their seats fit.
